Dear Friend,

In the world of our creation, money and worldly possessions are measures of success. However, in the reign of God, the value is relationship. How do you love God? You must love others. The more you love, the more love you know. In our religious life, we’ve sometimes made our practices and traditions the currency, but they are meaningless without the love of our neighbor. Love is the value, the currency, the measure of success. Love more, and know God’s love more deeply.
READINGS

Jeremiah grieves the destruction of his people, who insisted on worshiping idols, but for whom there is now no salvation.
Paul calls for believers to pray for all people, including leaders, reminding them of Christ’s pleading for us with God – for which Paul has been called as an apostle to the Gentiles.

Jesus parable of the shrewd manager who wins social capital and his master’s commendation through the act of radical, inappropriate, forgiveness.
Prayer
Caretaking Creator, instill in us the desire to care for one another and for this earth. Help us to cultivate our relationships, understanding the interconnected nature of creation and our neighbors. Call us away from the fleeting desires of this world and into the intention You instilled in us: to love the earth, to love one another, and to love You.
Help us to find our sense of purpose and meaning rooted in the love You have given us, so that we can transform the world to be part of Your reign forever. And help us to remember that You are still caring for us, and have given us all we need to change the world for Your beloved community. Amen.

Oktoberfest Celebration…Sunday, October 6…high noon
$20/person
Hosted by the Auction Committee
It is time enjoy a traditional German dinner. Sausages and bratwurst, with all the trimmings! Prost!

It’s almost September, so it’s time to start thinking about your
Christmas greens and garlands!
I know, you’re saying “Seriously??”   Well yes seriously, and here’s why….

Fusion would like to retrofit our existing wired mics and go
wireless.  This improves the following:
the sound of our vocalists,
the sanity of our sound techs moving cables back and forth,
the messy look in the front of the Praise Team in the Chancel area,
and the safety of those Fusion members that are clumsy and often trip over chords….

This is an expensive undertaking, so Fusion will be selling Christmas greens and garlands this year to help us raise those funds.
Ordering in early Fall and placing our order in mid-October gives us the largest discount available through Noble Farms.
Please consider ordering your Christmas greens in September.
Starting on Sunday, September 1st, order forms can be found before and after Sunday services near the water fountain and on the MUSIC
bulletin board outside of Brianna’s office.
NOTE:  Checks should be made out to FUMC.  Please put CHRISTMAS GREENS in the memo line and hand the check to Scott or Brianna so we can be sure to get the funds in the correct account.

Donations are also gratefully
accepted.
Many thanks in advance!
