First United Methodist Church ENews
Sunday, September 8
10:00 One Worship Service
Dear Friend,

Doing the right thing comes down to the small details of our lives as individual Christ-followers and as communities of faith. It is in the choices we make that God’s goodness is reflected to the world, and the true value of the Gospel is demonstrated.
When we turn our faith into just another “quick-fix” or just another strategy for fast and easy personal gratification (which we all do all too often) then we deny ourselves the power and joy of God’s abundant life, and we fail to proclaim the power of the Gospel of Jesus. But, when we are prepared to pay the cost – to live a life of loving, serving and caring for the least, the outcast and the unlovely – the Gospel message shouts from our lives.
READINGS

Jeremiah is instructed to observe the potter at work, and God explains how God works – how good that is promised may not happen if a nation turns to evil, and bad that is prophesied may not happen if the nation repents and turns back to God. Then God’s people are called to turn back to God.
A song of celebration for how intimately and completely God knows us – God formed us before we were born, and knows the path God wanted us to follow.

The cost of following Christ is everything, and Jesus encourages us to count the cost before committing ourselves to him.
Prayer
Spirit of Jesus, walk among us as you walked with your followers long ago. Touch us, heal us, and send us to a world longing for your grace. Forgive us when we seek your blessings for ourselves, while hesitating to heed your call to serve others.
Correct us when we dwell on what we lack, while neglecting to share what we have received.
Free us, Spirit of Christ, to live and to love as generously as you have loved us.
This we pray in your holy name. Amen.

It’s almost September, so it’s time to start thinking about your
Christmas greens and garlands!
I know, you’re saying “Seriously??”   Well yes seriously, and here’s why….

Fusion would like to retrofit our existing wired mics and go
wireless.  This improves the following:
the sound of our vocalists,
the sanity of our sound techs moving cables back and forth,
the messy look in the front of the Praise Team in the Chancel area,
and the safety of those Fusion members that are clumsy and often trip over chords….

This is an expensive undertaking, so Fusion will be selling Christmas greens and garlands this year to help us raise those funds.
Ordering in early Fall and placing our order in mid-October gives us the largest discount available through Noble Farms.
Please consider ordering your Christmas greens in September.
Starting on Sunday, September 1st, order forms can be found before and after Sunday services near the water fountain and on the MUSIC
bulletin board outside of Brianna’s office.

Donations are also gratefully
accepted.
Many thanks in advance!
