Trinity Sunday

Worship Celebration

God in your mercy, hear our prayers as we lift up to you the community of Uvalde, TX.

The Trinity is a mystery, as is the work of the Holy Spirit, Wisdom among us. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding,” Psalm 110:10 teaches us, but fear is better translated here as “awe.” It is that trembling sense of awe at the might and wonder of God. This is the beginning of wisdom. This is the beginning of our understanding of God as three-in-one, Triune. It is a mystery how God created the universe, how God became known to us in the person of Jesus Christ, and how God moves in and within us in the work of the Spirit. It is a mystery that we can come to know God through history and teaching and Scripture, but also through nature, and our own experience that leads us to understanding.

Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31:

Wisdom sings of being with God at the creation of the world, and of humanity.

Gods Majesty.jpg

Psalm 8:

A song of God’s majesty, and the honor God has given to humanity.

John 16:12-15:

Jesus promises the Spirit who will lead us into truth, and teach us all that belongs to Jesus and the Father.

Prayer of Brokenness

Thou Wisdom from on high, we confess we have been foolish. We have not listened to our children. We have not protected them. We have not done everything we can to keep them safe and to help them thrive. We have exploited the most vulnerable of our society and have failed to leave the world better for them. Forgive us, O God, for our foolish and selfish ways, and call us into accountability.

Remind us that we must care for the earth now for ourselves and for future generations. We must love one another now including the most vulnerable among us. We must see all children as made in Your image, all of us beloved by You, and we must work to make the world a better place. Help us, O God, to do the hard work to restore what we have broken, and to listen to Your Holy Wisdom. Amen.

Craft Club Resumes

The Craft Club will resume the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the church library. Please bring your craft projects and join us for the fellowship!

Dear Church Family,

Over the past few years, First UMC of Lombard has participated in the DuPage PADS Program serving the needs of the homeless in DuPage County. March 20, 2020, marked a change in the delivery of services to the homeless through DuPage PADS by going from a “Congregant Model” to an “Interim Housing Model”. What this has meant is different ways for congregations to provide service.

During the recent Leadership Team Meeting a proposal was made to provide a mission moment during the worship service about the DuPage PADS Programs. An immediate service opportunity was also discussed where First UMC of Lombard would assemble 40-50 DuPage PADS Snack Packs for children who are in residence at the Interim Housing Center located in Downers Grove at the former Red Roof Inn.

FUMC’s DuPage PADS Program Coordinators propose to present the Mission Moment during the 10 a.m. worship service followed by the service opportunity on Sunday, July 31st. More information to follow.

In the meantime, should you have any questions please contact Pat or Tom Price at

Yours in Mission,

Pat & Tom Price
