Hello Parents and Caregivers!
Due to safety concerns, we are still not able to offer Sunday School live and in person yet, so we are continuing
to offer Sunday School online. Currently the makeup of our Sunday School group contains mostly preschoolers and kindergarteners.
We will accommodate older children as the need arises, so if you have an older child, please call us or email us and we will
make arrangements accordingly!
After polling parents and caregivers, it was decided that Sunday morning at 9:15am (before virtual church starts at 10am) is
the best time to meet for everyone for Sunday School. We have a curriculum that everyone is following which includes interactive
worksheets, songs, stickers, and Gospel stories for every week, so please let us know if you need a set of worksheets
(or more than one if you have more children!) Also, you will need the Zoom invite for Sunday mornings—so if you
don’t have one already, please let us know and we will email you one. When you type in the meeting code and
password there will be a “waiting room” to verify identities before the class begins. We begin at 9:15am and end
shortly before the 10am service starts.
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, ideas or suggestions!

When we get back to “normal” whenever that might be: Following this special time with Pastor Luis, Scott, Pastor Bonnie, or Deacon Ginny, children 4+ go to Kids Time for stories, crafts, and singing; infants and children up to age 4 will go to the nursery. Children are always welcome to stay with their family for the entire service as well.
Both the Kids Time Team and the Nursery Staff have two-way radios to contact our Ushers during the service, so parents can be notified in case of an emergency or an unhappy child.
Parents can walk to the nursery or Kids Time with their children, but our staff always escorts the children to the appropriate area. We’ve found that most of the 4+ children can’t wait to get upstairs for Kids Time, so you may have trouble keeping up with them on the way….
Parents should pick up their children (all ages) from the nursery at the end of the worship service. No child will be released to anyone except the child’s parent or guardian, unless an authorization form has been filled out and signed.
First UMC Lombard is a Safe Sanctuary church. All staff, teachers, and anyone working with the children have gone through background checks. Our Safe Sanctuary policy is available upon request.
During Kids Time, we use age-appropriate Gospel Light curriculum, which we get through Cokesbury. Each Sunday, the kids are invited to take home their worksheets for the week, and parents are invited to pick up “family homework” when they pick up their kids in the nursery.
For more information about the Kids Time curriculum, please contact Scott Hotaling at Scott@FirstUMCLombard.org.
