Luis F. Reyes
Lead Pastor

A native of the island of Puerto Rico; Luis, an elder in full connection, has 32 years of pastoral experience in the United Methodist Church. Has been the Lead Pastor at the church since July 1, 2011.  He has served churches in the Puerto Rico Annual Conference (Methodist Church of Puerto Rico) and the former Western New York Conference (Buffalo) before he and his family moved to the Chicago land area in 1992. He served Hermosa-Salem/El Buen Pastor UMC (1992-1995) – Berry Memorial UMC (1995-2000) – First United Methodist Church of Bensenville (200-2011).  Luis holds degrees in Business Administration from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s in Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago) and has done postgraduate studies.  Luis also has completed extended Continued Education in Church Mediation Skills; Clergy Clinics in Family Emotional Process (Systems Theory) and Healthy Congregations training.  Luis has been married to his spouse of 31 years, Norma. (a retired Pre-school Teacher) They have three children: Nory Liz (Jason), Liz Enid (Gustavo) and Norman Luis, and two granddaughters Norah Joyce (RIP) Adeline Enid.  In his spare time, Luis enjoys cooking, good movies, a good book, comedy shows and biking. There is nothing he loves more than a fresh, warm piece of buttered bread and a cup of coffee.
Scott Hotaling

Scott wears more hats around here than the Village People, and is never bored. Born in Alaska and raised in NE Kansas, he has lived in the Chicago area for more than half his life, including earning a Master of Divinity back in the early ’90s. He has a son who is a Junior in college and a growing collection of (mostly growing) bonsai. His wife, Jessica, works in Affordable Housing.

Rev. Bonnie is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.  Before receiving her call to ordained ministry, Bonnie was a wife, mother and registered nurse.  After receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing at Harper Community College, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree at National Lewis University and her Master of Divinity at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL.  Before her retirement, Bonnie served St. Andrew’s UMC in Homewood, Prince of Peace UMC in Elk Grove Village, First UMC of Des Plaines and Granville Ave. UMC in Chicago.  Bonnie is also a Certified Spiritual Director, a ministry in which she continues to practice as a staff member at First UMC of Lombard.

 

Brianna Harris

Brianna is a local girl, raised in Lombard, and she grew up in this church.  She attended Glenbard East High School and Elmhurst College, and is now working on her Masters.
While directing the Chancel Choir, Aldersgate Handbell Choir and Fusion at First UMC, she works her “real” job as the band director at a secondary school in Aurora.
Brianna plays flute, oboe and trumpet, and she loves chocolate, Fall, Halloween and wearing scarves – not necessarily in that order.  She has a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh.
Dan Hennel

Daniel Hennel graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music
and a performance certificate, and from Northern Illinois University with a Master of Music degree in piano performance.
He has taught privately since 2000. Daniel has been a music copyist for Doug Beach Music, which specializes in educational jazz, since 1997.
He continues to be an active performer in and around Chicago.
